All boats are now ready to paddle! These are the only three boats I plan to build right now. After the months of hard (and rewarding) work, my boatbuilding itch has been scratched for a while and I’m off to other projects! And now to find them homes.

Maiden Voyage at Big Lagoon
•August 25, 2009 • 1 CommentWe got lots of great questions and comments from folks at the lagoon! It was fun to hear all the excitement over wooden boats.

Summer
•August 14, 2009 • 2 CommentsAugust is the real start of summer in Arcata, when the fog finally starts to subside and the sun comes out once again. I’ve been away on all sorts of outside summer adventures, but don’t think the kayaks have sat untouched! In between trips, one of the kayaks was finished and looks beautiful. The cool weather has made the cure time of epoxy and varnish maddeningly slow, but I’m looking forward to sunnier fall days to finish the other two boats! Of special note is the comfiest custom fit seat, and low profile deck hardware that is highly functional without getting in the way.

I’m very happy with the new deck design! (on left) The cockpit recesses will be built today; check back this weekend for pictures of fiberglassed decks. The color of the wood is going to be brought out dramatically by the fiberglassing process.

Progress
•April 28, 2009 • Leave a CommentSome great progress has been made in the last week. With any luck, the decks might even be fiberglassed this week and ready for the coamings to be built.
Cheers! Lisa
